Dear SMS Parents,

We would like to invite you to some upcoming events at our school.

Chinese New Year Celebration:

On Wednesday, February 1st @10:30am we will celebrate the start of the Lunar Calendar/Chinese New Year 2012-Year of the Dragon by having a traditional dragon/lion dance performance. Please have your child bring in $4 by Friday to help with the cost of the performance and feed the dragon. In the spirit of Chinese New Year please have your child wear red that day.

Black History Month Celebration:

On Wednesday, February 8th we are having a presentation by Nano Yaw Asiedu.The program is a performance/lecture/ demonstration on drums from the African diaspora, entailing historical data of the instruments (which instruments and songs come from which countries), terms from African languages (including translation of the meaning of songs), hands-on audience participation, stories, and songs.
